Apple to preview Upper West Side NYC store

Formal unveiling due for November 14th
Apple has sent out media invitations for a preview of the company's fourth Manhattan retail store, scheduled to occur November 14th. The store is situated in the Upper West Side of the island, at the corner of Broadway and 67th; neighbors include the Lincoln Center and the Julliard School. It is still unknown when doors will open to the general public.
Fortune notes that the store will offer an extra marketing advantage to Apple, as it is along the route of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, a prime position for international TV coverage. Sales alone will likely justify the location; Manhattan is home to wealthy and technologically savvy demographics, which have already helped to drive Apple retail profits. The Fifth Avenue store by itself is said to generate $35,000 per square foot in annual revenues.

Sorry, the parade route doesn't pass by the new Apple Store on B'way & W. 67th in Manhattan.

They changed the route from B'way to 7th via central pk south/59th st. However, there will be a LOT of people in the area due to that dog leg route, perfect for word of mouth adv.
The main reason they diverted the parade, is because broadway in certain areas has recently been removed as an active vehicular roadway, mainly because the intersections that were involved happened to be pinch points for "grid" traffic, adding another 2 directions in those spots caused a lot of congestion and incidents. Most of the area is now a public space with tables chairs etc, quite nice i think, but a shame for people used to seeing it come down broadway from their office/apt.
